What is Accreditation? Accreditation in Public Relations is a voluntary certification program for public relations professionals, administered by the Universal Accreditation Board. To become accredited, practitioners present a portfolio of their work to a Readiness Review panel of accredited members who advance qualified applicants to take a computerized written examination.
Typically, candidates will participate in a preparation course set up by the chapter, become familiar with a selection of public relations textbooks, and undertake several months of study to prepare for the examination. The exam, consisting of multiple-choice questions, covers a wide scope of practice experience and academic understanding of the body of professional knowledge.
More information is available on the national professional accreditation Web site.
